Provisory Object 03 (2004), belongs to a series of short films for which Edith Dekyndt (b. 1960, Ypres) documented the fleeting existence of a soapy water membrane and the colourful effects of light reflected on its surfaces. Shot on video, each work follows the same structure, presenting a close-up, static image of hands holding the thin film of soap until it suddenly disappears. Each work in the series is made under different atmospheric conditions, from the artist’s kitchen to the Arctic Circle. Provisory Object 03 was filmed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Inspired by the work of Edith Dekyndt, carillonneur Anna Kasprzycka will explore the ephemeral, the resonance, and the fleeting nature of bell sounds in a program highlighting compositions by women alongside her own improvisations.
